Cardio Vascular Disease

                  Cardio Vascular Disease

Circulatory System & Diseases

Introduction
Millions of people in the world suffer from the disease of the heart and blood vessels which are called 'cardiovascular disease'. It has already become  the number one killer disease in  the developed countries. They call it  'the epidemic of the present century'.

The heart is a tough muscular pump whose constant function is to eject blood to the arterial system at an average rate of 70 to 75 times per minute.  The heart keeps the blood circulation going by receiving it in its chamber from every part of the body through the venous system and then pumping it out  to all part s of body through arteries.

When any part of the circulatory system does not receive the needed blood supply, it gets damaged. The damage could be the heart itself or in any other parts such as lungs, the kidneys, the brain and other organs. Due to any breakdown in this mechanism in the heart, there is heart ailment or heart attack as it is commonly called.

There are various types of heart ailments : they are atherosclerosis, hardening of arteries, coronary thrombosis, sudden blocking of arteries of the heart and hypertensive diseases. Heart conditions that include diseased vessels, structural problems and blood clot.

Tips For Healthy Heart
  • Snap out of sedentary lifestyle
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Consume healthy fats.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Reduce alcohol intake
  • Have a low salt and low sugar diet.
  • Keep stress under control
  • Get regular check up done.
  • People with abnormal fat  are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • About 45 minutes of daily exercise for five days a week is a must. This will avoid excess of  weight gain and prevent heart problems in the longer run.
  • Smoking increases the risk of coronary  heart diseases by narrowing arteries over a sustained period.
  • Keep your vitals such as blood pressure and sugar under check.
  • If you notice any fluctuations consult a specialist immediately.

Most common types are:
Atherosclerosis
The inner wall of the arteries get thickened due to gradual deposition of fatty material. Thus gradual deposition take the form of  layers in the inner wall of the arteries. and as a result, there is hindrance to the flow of blood, consequently blood clotting occurs in the roughened areas and the blood circulation get blocked.

Coronary Thrombosis
There is a sudden blocking of one of the arteries or its branches and then the supply of blood to the  heart is affected partially or wholly. The sudden blocking takes place due to  the deposit of clot in an already narrow artery. Due to lack of blood supply, heart attack takes place with pain in the chest and arms and there may be perspiration.

Degenerative Heart Diseases
This occurs due to gradual decay of the blood vessels. It is believed that  excessive smoking of tobacco in any form causes degeneration of blood vessels This generally occurs in middle aged and elderly persons.

Hypertensive Heart Diseases
This occurs due to constant presence of  high blood pressure in an individual. When the blood pressure continues to remain high, it over strains the heart muscles and also the whole of the circulatory system. This over straining causes wear and tear of the tissues, lead to the hardening of blood vessels and diminished supply of blood to the heart and brain. Sometimes the supply of blood to the brain gets so diminished that paralysis of one or both sides of body occur. The illness resulting from stress and strain is known as psychosomatic. The main cause of strain is due to nervousness which arise because o fear, anxiety, frustration etc. Most of the disease of this type such as heart ailment, hypertension , asthma etc are mostly related to these strain and stress.

Heart Failure
A chronic condition  in which the heart doesn't pump blood as well as  it should.

Coronary Heart Disease
Damage or disease in the heart'd major blood vessels.

Arrhythmia
Improper beating of  the heart, whether irregular, too fast or too slow.

Congenital Heart  diseases
An abnormality in the heart that develops before birth.

Stroke
Damage to the brain from interruption of its blood supply

Cardiac Arrest
Sudden unexpected loss of heart functions, breathing and consciousness.

Peripheral Artery Disease
A circulatory condition in which narrowed blood vessels reduce blood flow to the limb.

High blood pressure

A condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high. In a normal and healthy  person the blood pressure remains 140 systolic and  90 diastolic. But when there are abnormalities in the arteries or in the circulatory system, the systolic pressure rises very high and at times diastolic also rises.

The rise in the pressure is caused due to the narrowness in the arteries. the heart has to work harder for pushing the blood through them, as a result of which there is high blood pressure. In medical terms is called hypertension.

Though it is normal for the blood pressure to rise during excitement and at certain emotional moments., it goes down shortly. Such rises do not cause any harmful effect.  But when the blood pressure remains continuously high it causes various disorders such as lack of strength, tiredness, headache and at times difficulty in breathing, bad temper, visionary troubles and coldness in the hands and feet.

Nature cure is a philosophical way of life, looking at life , health and disease.Nature cure teaches us the principles of scientific dieting and right living.

If accumulated poisonous matter which clogs the system is  eliminated through proper method such as fasting and proper food, diseases can be cured.

During the process of metabolism constructive and destructive changes, oxidation etc. are going on in the system. Waste products when formed are eliminated at once through kidneys, lungs, skin and bowels.  If they continue to accumulate owing to inefficient action of the elimination excretory organs, slow poisoning takes place and disease results.

Nature tries to get rid of  all the impurities through its healing power.Every acute disease is the result of the purifying effort by nature. That time the method like moderate eating, fasting, water consumption are to be tried to remove the disease.

Myths related to cardiac health and age ?

  • I would know if  I had high blood pressure, because there would be warning signs. And its OK to have high blood pressure when you are older.
