Introduction
This year world Pneumonia day  holds bigger importance  in the light of Covid 19  pandemic.Although after coming this far , the risk of Covid 19 infection  is still not over and at the same time  attention needs to be given to Pnemonia too. According to WHO Pneumonia accounts for 15% of all deaths  of children below  the age of 5 years. Pollution or bad air quality is considered  to be one of the leading causes of Pneumonia. Pneumonia is one of the major health concerns, especially in third world countries. Along with enviounmental factors  lack of awareness is also a reason  for the severity. 
What is Pneumonia?
Pneumonia is a respiratory infection that causes inflammation in the airways  and lungs. . In severe cases air sac can get filled with  pus which further leads to  discomfort while breathing. Depending upon the defense mechanism  of the patient,  it can vary from mild to severe. People with weak lung capacity and compromised immunity are more prone to Pneumonia than healthy people. People already suffering from other respiratory diseases  like asthma,C.O.P.D or Covid 19 need to be extra cautious.

Symptoms
  • Difficulty in breathing (prime symptom)
  • Coughing
  • Cough with phelgm
  • Repeated episodes of vomiting.
  • Unnecessary fatigue
  • Muscles aches
  • Fever with chills.

Covid 19 & Pneumonia
m Although Covid 19 is far more than a respiratory infection. It affects the patient's overall well being. But after its invasion into lungs  Covid 19 infection turns into  Covid 19 Pneumonia and it worsen the condition.  One of the major reasons for continuous oxygen supply to Covid 19 patient was  that their infection has caused  severe Pneumonia. The Covid 19 infection additionally  immunity and other major organs  as well.  Hence Pneumonia during Covid 19 infection  or the risk of Covid 19 infection during Pneumonia will be life threatening.Hence patient who are prone to Pneumonia  and have undergone treatment  should take extra care.

Prevention
  • Boost your immunity : Our body.s defense mechanism needs to be strong enough to prevent Pneumonia.Take adequate nutrition including vitamin C, proteins and other nutrition. Chawan prash is a good option.
  • Maintain hygiene : Basic hygiene plays an important role in preventing the infection.Bacteria and viruses tends to be more active in a filthy environment.
  • Flu & Pneumonia vaccine shots : After consulting your doctor  take Flu shot to safe guard your self  from Pneumonia.
  • Quit smoking : Smoking leads to compromised lung capacity which is prone to Pneumonia. Leave smoking and tobacco consumption.
  • A healthy lifestyle means healthy lungs : Do breathing exercises regularly to increase  the capacity of lungs. Consult an expert before doing any exercise.
Never ignore any symptoms, take extra care of your children in this regard.

Treatment
Depending on the severity the patients with Pneumonia may get cured at home with doctors prescription and also may need to be admitted  to the hospitals. Early treatment is the key as delay can cause more breathing difficulty  and inflammation.
