Fungal infections : Any inflammatory condition, caused by a fungal. Most fungal infections are superficial and mild, though persistant and difficult to eradicate . Some particularly in older, debilitated or immunosuppressant, or immuno- deficient people may become systemic and life threatening.

Who has published the list the fungal infections that pose the greatest threat to global health. These pathogens are drug resistant, which is the major cause of concern

The fungi are divided into three categories-

• Critical
• High
• Medium priority

according to the resistance, risk and lack of diagnostics, treatment and surveillance. 

The critical group includes Candida auris, Aspergilius fumigatus, etc

The high priority group includes Mucorales, which causes a black fungus infection that was found in seriously ill patient in India during Covid 19.

The medium category has other fungi like Cryptococcus gattii and Coccidioides spp.
